Today we're glad to announce the release of the new JIRA Client version 3.6 — our desktop client for Atlassian JIRA. This version introduces a number of user interface improvements and some new features.
In this version, Create and Edit forms look according to how these screens are configured in your JIRA: fields appear in the same order and grouped into the same tabs. (Note that this functionality requires JIRA Client Plugin to be installed on the JIRA server).
Also it is now possible to hide any unused or rarely used fields from the Create and Edit forms.
Now you can edit multiple issues at once. Select more than one issue in the search result and click Edit button above the list of issues.
JIRA Client 3.6 comes with a built-in spelling checker. It checks all text fields for misprints and suggests corrections. It supports English, German, French, Spanish and Russian languages and a user dictionary.
Previous versions of JIRA Client allowed you to view issues arranged into hierarchies based on the issue links. In this new version, you can define custom hierarchies based on several link types at the same time.
JIRA Client 3.6 comes with the following additional improvements:
The upgrade is recommended for everyone who has a license with active maintenance and who's using JIRA 5.2—6.2 or later. If you have JIRA 5.0—5.1, then we advise to upgrade JIRA first, due to some limitations these versions have when providing remote access to JIRA Client. JIRA versions earlier than 5.0 are not supported.
This is a major upgrade, so please backup your workspace before the upgrade. If possible, clear local database (after uploading all pending changes) before running the new version. Otherwise, after new JIRA Client has started, use menu Connection | Reload JIRA Configuration on every connection. Some of the new features might not be available until JIRA Client re-downloads issue information from JIRA.
Please let us know at support@almworks.com if you have any questions or need assistance.
