Over the past 18 months, we reimagined and reengineered Structure for Jira for Atlassian customers who use Atlassian Cloud. The highly-anticipated release allows users to access and organize issues on Jira Cloud via the same easy-to-use, spreadsheet-like view offered by Structure for Jira server and data center.
Unlike the Jira server and data center community, Jira cloud is primarily used by smaller organizations. Consequently, these prospective Structure customers have some different (and many similar) needs. Introducing Structure Cloud at Atlassian’s biggest customer event of the year gave us a great opportunity to prioritize the Structure Cloud roadmap based on customer feedback. But it also confirmed what we believed heading into the show — there is tremendous pent-up demand for Structure in the Jira Cloud community.
You can find all versions of Structure, including the new Structure Cloud on the Atlassian Marketplace.
Our latest update to Structure.Gantt aims to push Gantt charts even further into the world of agile project management.
Project managers can now use sprint dates to manually schedule tasks, so start and end dates for tasks can be set to match the sprint. The workload for each task is divided evenly across its duration, making it simple to identify and address overloads within a sprint. Since future sprint dates are not set in Jira, Structure.Gantt allows you to estimate future sprint dates and durations, even if different projects follow different timelines.
We also introduced the new Agile Gantt Chart template, which turns your existing Jira data into sprint-based Gantt charts in seconds. These can be customized to display the hierarchy most suitable for your team’s needs, whether that’s Stories only, Stories beneath Epics or Initiatives above Epics (for Portfolio users).
If you would like to try “Agile Gantt,” you can download a free trial version on the Atlassian Marketplace. If you’re skeptical and you’d first like to read more about Agile Gantt, we have a recently published blog post on that topic just for you.
Please Remember: Structure.Gantt has been a free extension for Structure customers since its introduction. However, that will no longer be true when version 2.0 is introduced later this year. Current Structure.Gantt users must register for a 2-year extension of their free license and support by June 15th, 2019.
Project planning estimates are critical, but also notoriously difficult to nail down. We are piloting a new solution that aims to solve that problem. Powered by Structure for Jira and delivered with the support of consulting services, Structured Predictions was very well received by Atlassian customers and Solution Partners at Summit 2019.
Structured Predictions allows users to analyze historical project data to reliably predict how quickly teams will complete their current workload, based on a mathematical team performance profile. Using the Predictive Cumulative Flow Diagram (PCFD) Gadget, users can specify the precise historical data to be collected and analyzed. Structured Predictions can even predict the number of additional stories that a team will add to their project.
In short, this solution should enable program managers to plan, predict and validate their product roadmaps sooner rather than later; and to improve outcomes early in the project lifecycle.
