Today we're glad to announce the release of Deskzilla 2.1, a major upgrade of our desktop client for Bugzilla bug tracking system. This release contains a lot of user interface improvements and introduces support for Bugzilla flags.

Support for Bugzilla Flags

You can now view bug's flags in details view and in the bug table, edit flags and search for bugs with specific flags set.

Bug table can show each flag in a separate column, or all flags in a single column, and flag columns can be used for sorting bugs. Full information about all flags set for a specific bug is displayed in the bug details area.

To set or change flags, you can open flag editor while creating or editing a bug, or directly from the detailed bug view.

You can create distributions and search for flagged bugs with simplified conditions, based on flag setter, requestee or flag type.

There's also a very powerful search filter called "Flags", which allows you to define any flag-based criteria for searching, from very generic to very specific.

As of this version, attachment flags are not supported. If you need support for attachment flags, please vote for issue DZO-703 in our issue tracker.

Bug flags are supported for all Bugzilla versions starting from Bugzilla 2.22.

User Interface Improvements

Deskzilla 2.1 contains a lot of user experience improvements. To name just a few:

• You can now attach files and create screenshots when creating new bugs;
• Connections to Bugzilla are now set up or adjusted using new connection wizard;
• Links in bug comments are now clickable;
• When you edit a field, recently selected options are now highlighted and offered before other options;
• Messages about specific bugs are displayed at the bottom of the bug details area;
• Main menu was redesigned.

Bug Fixes

A number of bugs have been fixed in this release. For a detailed list of fixed issues, see change log.

Limited Support for Mac OS X

Starting with this release, Deskzilla requires Java version 6. Make sure your Mac computer satisfies system requirements before upgrading. Supported versions:

• Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) or later version.
• 64-bit Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5.2 and above) with Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 1 (or later update).

Upgrading Deskzilla

To upgrade from a previous version:

1. Backup your workspace.
2. Install the new version over the old one and start Deskzilla.
3. Reload Bugzilla configuration using Connection | Reload Bugzilla Configuration.
4. If you're using Bugzilla flags, Deskzilla needs to reload bugs from Bugzilla in order to get information about their flags. Use Right-Click | Reload Query from Server on the most generic query that you're using (like "All Open Bugs").

This version may be used in a free 30-day trial mode or with any Deskzilla license key with active maintenance subscription.
