Today is a big release day! Atlassian has announced the release of the long-awaited JIRA 4, and we are happy to support the new JIRA with the release of JIRA Client 2.0.
What's more, Atlassian is now offering a $10 starter license for JIRA and other great products. And we're releasing JIRA Client Lite — a special version of JIRA Client to be used with the starter JIRA servers absolutely for free.
JIRA Client Lite is free for download and use in any small or open-source projects. It has all the features of the full version, and we also provide support for the Lite version. JIRA Client Lite is different from JIRA Client Pro only in that its use is limited to open-source projects and JIRA servers running on a 10-user Starter license.
To start using the free version, you need just to download JIRA Client Lite and connect it to your JIRA.
JIRA Client 2.0 is a major upgrade, incorporating all the features introduced in 1.x versions and all patches and hotfixes released previously. Compared to the previous version 1.5.3, the new features are:
The new features are described in detail in the beta release announcement.
Upgrading to this version requires an active maintenance subscription. Your maintenance subscription allows using JIRA Client 2.0 if you have purchased JIRA Client license on October 7th, 2008 or later, or if you have purchased maintenance renewal for period covering the date of release. If you'd like to purchase a renewal, please request a quote.
There are a few important changes in this version, so upgrade is advised. If you're using JIRA 4, you should upgrade to avoid compatibility problems. To upgrade from a previous version:
