QA Engineer

Location: Saint Petersburg, Russia

ALM Works is an independent software company, specializing in software products for Application Lifecycle Management. Our software is used in hundreds of companies around the world, helping people deal with issues and tasks efficiently.

Our main product is Structure Plugin for Atlassian JIRA, one of the most popular products on the Atlassian Marketplace. ALM Works is an active member of Atlassian Ecosystem and our team is working closely with Atlassian and other plugin vendors.

We’re looking for an experienced QA engineer to join our small company. We are a team of dedicated professionals and you should want to release the best-in-class software in order to fit our team spirit.

What you need for this position:

  • At least 2 years of experience in commercial software.
  • Experience in planning and executing functional, regression, and exploratory testing.
  • Experience in creating test cases and checklists.
  • Web application testing experience – business logic, usability and UI.
  • Written English.
  • Jira user experience.

These qualifications are a plus:

  • JIRA administration experience.
  • Good spoken English.
  • Experience with Agile.
  • Experience with mind maps.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Exploratory testing of new products and features.
  • Participation in project teams at early development stages (requirement testing).
  • Usability testing and UI concept discussions and development.
  • Incoming requests investigation and communication with customers and other developers within Atlassian ecosystem.

We Offer:

  • Fellowship in a small team of highly proficient, motivated, technical people.
  • Productive and informal work environment.
  • Contributing to products that are used by thousands of people in many big-name companies around the world.
  • Engineering-oriented culture, high quality standards.
  • Opportunity to improve your English (we use English a lot).
  • Competitive salary (top 10% of the market).
  • After 6 months: quarterly bonus based on the financial performance of the company (your work will have direct effect on the revenue).
  • Flexible schedule.
  • Additional premium medical insurance, 100% paid sick leaves.
  • Opportunity to communicate with the customers around the world and present the projects to the public on the Internet and at trade shows and conferences.
  • Business trips to the company's U.S. office in Boston.
  • Reserved parking.

How it works from the inside:

As a small agile testing team we prefer Working Software over Comprehensive Documentation, so our tools mostly are brains, hands, mind maps and checklists. Our challenges are:

  • A lot of compatibility testing (with databases, with browsers, with JIRA and Confluence versions, with other plugins)
  • Quality at speed: we often need to ship faster without cutting the quality
  • Prioritization and exploration on everyday basis

Everyone in our company feels responsibility for the quality of the product. Our brave Development team writes unit and integration tests and does code review for each pull request. They have also created Structure.Testy product for us, and we use it for creating checklists right in JIRA. Our DevOps engineer has created a special tool for faster instances creation based on the Docker platform.

We cannot function without close communication between team members. In addition to personal meetings and chat in Slack, we have standup meetings twice a week . Each team member can participate in communication with customers in order to better understand their needs: from customer support requests to personal meetings at international events and dedicated customer visits.

If you’re interested, please respond (in English) with a few words about why do you seek this position and your thoughts about Atlassian Jira, for example, your opinion on what are the three main advantages of Atlassian Jira (or, if you don’t have enough experience with Jira, take any other issue tracker).

If you are interested, please send us your CV and a link to your public profile.
