The Closure plugin is a figment of my imagination.
Are your performance metrics lagging? Is someone holding the team back? You need Closure!
Closure is a productivity extension for Structure that aims to revolutionize the way developers close issues. Closure comes hot on the heels of Testy, a Structure extension we released only a couple of weeks ago that turns JIRA into a flexible, lightweight testing tool.
We analysed the daily routines of several developers whose performance metrics were falling behind and discovered that they spend a lot of their time closing issues. In some cases it was taking them days or even weeks to close just one issue.
By way of careful measurement and calculation, we estimated that we could save an awful lot of developers' time by automating the process of transitioning issues through workflows (especially the really convoluted ones), thus freeing them up to do more useful activities. That's exactly what Closure does.
At the user level, Closure adds the closeYourIssues()
function to JQL. Any of the current user's issues that are returned by a JQL query wrapped in the closeYourIssues()
function are sent to the Closure plugin for further processing. Closure then finds the shortest route through the workflow to the 'Closed' status, and applies it wherever possible.
Flexible configuration allows the user to specify a period over which issues should be closed (for example, in order to maintain a steady burndown rate when using JIRA Agile), or set up a scheduled Structure synchronizer to run Closure periodically. This means that Closure can actually close your issues as soon as they are assigned to you.
Closure does not currently make it possible to edit closed JIRA issues, but we are looking into the possibility of adding this functionality in a future release.
Closure has already received official endorsement from the JIRA Europe Support Team in Greece and also from the JIRA Open Kanban Enterprise.
