Today we're happy to release a preview version of JIRA Client 3.2, our desktop client for Atlassian JIRA. This version brings considerable improvements in the download/upload speed and memory consumption.
In this version, we have completely gotten rid of the old JIRA's SOAP API — now JIRA Client uses only REST API (and also imitates browser in some cases).
Version 3.2 Alpha 1 that we release today is still an early preview. We expect a few bugs to surface in this version, but we'd like to make it available because JIRA Client has really gotten much faster. A number of other problems has also been fixed.
To get the Alpha version, please use JIRA Client Download Archive.
We advise to install Alpha version into a different (not standard) directory, so it does not overwrite the stable version of JIRA Client, which you might need.
Alpha version uses a different default workspace location (.JIRAClient.Alpha sub-directory in the home directory), so when you start it for the first time, you'll see an empty workspace.
You will need to recreate the connections to your JIRA servers. It is possible to copy and paste the queries from your established JIRA connections in the stable version of JIRA Client — just use copy and paste on the queries in the navigation area.
This version of JIRA Client is supplied with a free 90-days license, which will expire on September 25th, 2013. Please upgrade to a newer Alpha or to a stable version before the expiration date.
Please let us know how this version works for you! Feedback is important to us, and if you happen to have any problems, please send us the problem report (either from the application or by email to the support team).
